Visit by the Chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces



Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda in Belgrade, today.
 
On that occasion, General Dikovic pointed out that this was the first visit of the Chief of General Staff of the Republic of Angola after three decades, and that friendly relations are the basis of cooperation between our two countries.
 
- It is a great opportunity during our talks to make decisions for promoting such cooperation, especially the military economic one, because there is a need for that, and we have resources that can meet the needs of the Republic of Angola and its Armed Forces in terms of strengthening its readiness – General Dikovic said adding that our institutes and overhauling facilities, as well as the overall capacities of the military industry of the Republic of Serbia have the capability and knowledge to cooperate with the Angolan Armed Forces to jointly build and strengthen their capabilities.
 
He recalled that it has been for several years now that officer cadre of the Republic of Angola is educated at the University of Defence and, as he pointed out, we are open and ready to educate also the non-commissioned officers and give courses for soldiers in our training centres.
 
- An important issue that is present in our talks is the military-medical cooperation. You are familiar with the values of our military medical institutions and all the necessary assistance is available in accordance with the requirements of the Chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces – General Dikovic said noting that the potential of our defence system is characterized by top quality, accuracy and precision and reliability, but also expressing the hope that promotion of our cooperation will be to our mutual satisfaction, and for the purpose of countering challenges in protecting the interests of our country.
 
As pointed out by general Nunda, evidence and examples of cooperation between the two countries are visible, not only when it comes to education of cadre in the military and military medical schools, but there is also evidence of the quality and value of the work of engineers and technicians from the Serbian Armed Forces who have worked very closely with the Army Commander and who allowed overhauling of a large portion of materiel and equipment of the Angolan Armed Forces.
 
- In addition to working on repairs and maintenance of materiel and equipment, they also trained our personnel to work in such jobs. We would like to further strengthen and expand this cooperation of ours and we are the working on exploring other forms of cooperation and the other two services of our military – General Nunda concluded, adding that this visit will strengthen the relations between the two countries which are historical, while expressing also the willingness for their further strengthening in the future.
 
During the official visit of the delegation of the Republic of Angola, General Nunda also met with the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, and the delegation laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala.
