Combined Medical Engagement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard



Заједничко медицинско ангажовање припадника Војске Србије и Националне гарде ОхајаIn the place of Reljan, in the municipality of Presevo, a joint humanitarian assistance of mixed medical teams of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard has started today and it will last in the territory of the Pcinj Administrative District until 14 September.
 
In the "9. May" Elementary School, the beginning of this humanitarian campaign was attended by Nenad Neric, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Ljubisa Dikovic, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, Major General Mark Bartman, Ohio National Guard Adjutant General, Kurt Donnelly, US Deputy Chief of Mission in Belgrade, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces and local self-government.
 
Accompanied by Colonel Ugljesa Jovicic, Head of the Military Health Department and Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Radunovic, CME Commander, they visited the working points on which the inspections are carried out and expressed satisfaction with the way in which the action is implemented.
 
- Common Medical Engagement includes free medical examinations of the residents of eight villages remote from health care facilities in the towns of Presevo and Bujanovac, and the location is changed every day in order to cover as large number of local communities as possible, Lieutenant Colonel Radunovic said and explained that the inspections are carried out by general practitioners, paediatricians, gynaecologists, dermatologists, infectious diseases specialists, ophthalmologists and other specialists as needed, as well as dentists, but there are also veterinary and preventive medical teams on the ground.
 
Заједничко медицинско ангажовање припадника Војске Србије и Националне гарде ОхајаKurt Donnelly, US Deputy Chief of Mission in Belgrade, expressed his satisfaction at being able to witness the successful cooperation between the Serbian and the US sides.
 
- This year we are marking the tenth anniversary of cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard and I am glad for them to perform good and noble work of providing free medical assistance to the local population, the Deputy Chief of Mission said and thanked the Serbian Armed Forces for successful organisation of such a humanitarian event.
 
The team that provides services to the local population is composed of 31 members of the Serbian Armed Forces, 26 members of the Ohio National Guard as well as four members of the Angolan Armed Forces as observers.
 
It is anticipated that the medical assistance is provided in the period from 9 am to 4 pm, starting from today, and representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Military Health Department, Military Medical Academy and National ONG decided that in addition to Reljan, medical teams assist residents of Muhovac, Vlas, Vrtogos, Lucani, Klenik, Cerevajka and Letovica.
