Djordjevic with Ambassador Keefe
Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and UK Ambassador Denis Keefe assessed at today's meeting that the cooperation in the defence field is the best part of the overall relations between the two countries.
The cooperation is mainly taking place in the fields of military education, medicine, building integrity, as well as the public relations. Military-to-military cooperation, especially of the land forces, is strengthening, as evidenced by recent meetings of commanders of this type of the armed forces. The defence minister said that he hoped that the enhanced cooperation in the area of military health care would result in possible joint participation of the medical contingent of Serbia and the UK in a multinational operation.
Minister Djordjevic stressed that Serbia is strongly committed to preserving the regional stability, while making a significant contribution to global security, bearing in mind the participation of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations.
The meeting also discussed the participation of the Serbian Minister of Defence at the upcoming Conference on Multinational Operations in London. At this time, 332 members of the Serbian Armed Forces are participating in peacekeeping missions, in a total of ten UN and the EU multinational operations.
