Preparations for the competitions at the International Army Games

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, participating in this year's International Army Games in Russia, are largely preparing themselves for the upcoming competitions.

At the Alabino training ground, Serbian tankmen borrowed T-72 b3 type tanks. By drawing of lots, which was held two days ago, it was decided that this year, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces will compete in the yellow coloured tanks. There are 20 of our tankmen in Alabin who will fight for medals at the attractive Tank biathlon competition against the teams of Zimbabwe, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, China, India, Kuwait, Nicaragua, Iran, Venezuela, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Angola, Tajikistan, Armenia and Russia as the host.

Pontoneers of the Serbian Armed Forces who are going to participate in the Open Water competition in Russian Murom started with the training, which is conducted in two parts. In the first part, the drivers practiced movement within the marching column from the starting region to the water obstacle. After that, there followed collective training with the task to assemble a scaffolding with capacity of 170 tons, from two parts – the scaffolding of 60 and 110 tons.

Although there are significant differences between our and Russian technologies, the Serbian pontoneers are convinced that, with the experience and knowledge they possess, they can master the skills of handling the Russian technique in a short period of time. As we found out, all teams participating in the competition are faced with the same problem, and that is a very low water level of the Oka River.

The team of the Serbian Armed Forces, which will compete in the Clean Sky event, at the training ground near the town of Yeysk, has already achieved success – the second place in the football tournament in the eight team competition. In Yeysk there are 14 members of the air defence artillery-missile units.

Members of the River Flotilla, artillery and missile operators participate in the International Army Games for the first time, while the tank crew, who have many years of experience, won the bronze medal last year.

The International Army Games will be held from 30th July to 13th August at the military training grounds in Russia, and it will be for the first time that a part of the competition will be held in Kazakhstan. More than 130 teams from 20 countries around the world will compete in 23 different disciplines. This year, nine countries will be in the role of observers.
