Meeting of Heads of the General Staff of Serbia and Poland
Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic met today with Head of the General Staff of Poland General Mieczyslaw Gocul at “Banjica 2” barracks in Belgrade.
Discussing the importance of today’s visit, General Dikovic particularly stressed the good cooperation with the Armed Forces of Poland, especially in the last two years, which is mostly directed at exchanging experiences in the field of advanced training and education, CBRN, religious service and engagement in EU combat groups.
- It should be emphasized that Poland actively participates in KFOR forces and that over 200 members of the Armed Forces of Poland are currently within those forces, which conduct rather complex tasks in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, and that around 100 members from Poland are in Eulex, and those are the first and key common points in joint tasks – General Dikovic stressed.
According to him, Poland has respectable Armed Forces which have been a part of almost all important missions and activities in the world in the past decade.
- We will also offer our capacities, which are certainly developed, especially our CBRN Center and the University of Defence, and we will also discuss military economic cooperation. An issue that will be closely examined is the current state in the region, and we will also discuss many other matters of mutual interest – General Dikovic stressed, adding that the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, by following the strategic path to the EU, contribute to our country’s endeavors for realization of all commitments on this path.
Stressing that today’s visit is a good opportunity to discuss common issues, General Gocul assessed that the cooperation between our Armed Forces is good, with room for further improvement.
- When it comes to the cooperation, we will discuss new areas of possible improvement and development directly and in detail. Today, we have already begun the talks about the situation in the region, in the very Balkans, which is very complex, but Poland sees the Armed Forces of Serbia as the leading and key factor in the region with the goal of preserving security and safety – General Gocul stated.
According to him, Poland truly appreciates the presence of the Armed Forces of Serbia in operations outside of its borders, and the overall speech given by General Dikovic during the last meeting of the EU Military Committee in Brussels represents a good and informative overview of the Armed Forces of Serbia.
Head of the General Staff of Poland also met today with State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic.
The delegation of the the Armed Forces of Poland laid wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala. During their visit to Serbia, the delegation will also visit the Special Brigade of the Armed Forces of Serbia.
