Minister Gašić lays wreath at Avala Monument to mark the Serbian Armed Forces Day



Acting as an envoy of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, accompanied by the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, and Guard Commander Brigadier General Željko Furundžić, has laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala today to commemorate the Serbian Armed Forces Day – 23rd April.
To the sound of the anthem of the Republic of Serbia and ceremonial formation of the Serbian Armed Forces’ Guard, following the wreath-laying ceremony, Minister Gašić wrote the following in the memorial book:

“Freedom was not presented as a gift; in fact, it was defended with blood. May the memory of the heroes who defended it and bestowed it on us live forever! Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! Long live Serbia!"

The Serbian Armed Forces Day is marked in memory of the Second Serbian Uprising that was raised on 23rd April 1815 which represents a turning point in the creation of the modern Serbian state and army.
