New Exhibition in Military Museum on the occasion of Serbian Armed Forces Day
Exhibition “The Deserving Ones – significant anniversaries in modern Serbian history through the decorations from the Military Museum collection” has been opened today on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day - 23rd April.

- The exhibition we are opening today commemorates the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces and the beginning of the Second Serbian Uprising, as well as the uprising of our people in Herzegovina, the famous “Nevesin Rifle”, the anniversary of 1915, the most difficult year for the Serbian people during the World War I, and the victorious end of the World War II in 1945. Decorations take up the central place of the exhibition, serving as symbols of virtues and feats and representing the strength of the Serbian state. They serve as a reminder of our ancestors’ spiritual strength, which has guided generations of our people through difficult times and must be preserved and strengthened. This exhibition should remind us of the necessity of valuing, preserving and promoting the Serbian army traditions and history in general, not allowing oblivion to cover those extremely difficult times for Serbia, a period of sacrifice, suffering and renunciation in the pursuit of a brighter future. With the desire that the Military Museum continues to present the cultural heritage and traditions of the Serbian Armed Forces with the same zeal, in the year when we celebrate the anniversary, I declare the exhibition “The Deserving Ones – significant anniversaries in modern Serbian history through the decorations from the Military Museum collection” officially open - Assistant Minister Radović said.

Major Mile Miković, Director of the Military Museum, spoke about the exhibition that has been opened today.
Nobility, courage, love of freedom, and everything else that makes us human, has served as a beacon in the past, a signpost in the present and a guideline for the future. Let us preserve the virtues and recall the spirit of our ancestors, so that we do not forget the most valuable gift that has been bestowed upon us. Let us be deserving descendants striving to be even better ancestors for future generations - Major Miković emphasised.

The exhibition “The Deserving Ones” sublimates the key virtues in a social order, which are visually and symbolically transformed into unique memorabilia from the Collection of Decorations of the Military Museum. The aim of the exhibition is to cherish the memory of the heroism and sacrifices that our ancestors made in the fight for freedom and the survival of our people and state through the display of museum objects, which are cultural assets of the Republic of Serbia that are preserved in the collection of the Military Museum.
The opening of today’s exhibition was attended by the Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Nebojša Nikolić, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of cultural institutions and numerous guests.

The exhibition is open until 23rd June, and admission is free for all interested visitors.
