Defence Minister meets Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad of the Congo
Defence Minister Bratislav Gašić has met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad of the Republic of the Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso. in Belgrade.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Gašić wished Minister Gakosso a warm welcome to the Republic of Serbia and expressed his satisfaction with their first meeting. He pointed out the importance of the talks on cooperation in the field of defence and the enhancement of overall relations between the two countries.
The Minister of Defence said that Serbia is very grateful for the principled and consistent position of the Congo regarding the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo and support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country. According to Minister Gašić, Serbia remains committed to military neutrality, but continues to develop and promote relations with other states and military-political alliances, in accordance with its own interests, and for the purpose of strengthening global, regional and national security.
The interlocutors agreed that there is a potential for establishing cooperation in the field of defence between the two countries, which would contribute to the development of overall bilateral relations between Serbia and the Congo.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Congolese Abroad of the Republic of the Congo Gakoso thanked Minister Gašić for the meeting and the opportunity to discuss important topics of mutual interest.
