80th anniversary of Syrmian Front breakthrough
A state ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the Syrmian Front breakthrough was held today at the Syrmian Front Memorial Park in Adaševci near Šid.

The ceremony marking the Syrmian Front breakthrough was attended by an MoD and SAF delegation headed by acting Assistant Minister for Budget and Finance Goran Momčilović and the Head of the Telecommunications and IT Department, General Staff, Brigadier General Mile Vitezović.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Vučević said that the contribution of our ancestors must not be forgotten or diminished.

The president of the Union of War Veterans of the National Liberation Wars of Serbia (SUBNOR), General Ljubiša Diković (retd), said that “the heroes of the Syrmian Front would not stop before the enemy because they had a higher goal ahead of them - victory and liberation”. He recalled that after 172 days the resistance had been crushed and the Syrmian Front breakthrough occurred.
As part of the state ceremony, organized by the Serbian Government’s Committee for Nurturing the Traditions of the Liberation Wars of Serbia, representatives of the Provincial Government, the Municipality of Šid, the City of Novi Sad, the Srem Administrative District, as well as representatives of SUBNOR and "Sremski Front" Elementary School laid wreaths, while representatives of the diplomatic corps laid white roses.
