Military service volunteers in stationary camp

Soldiers who have been performing their military service at the Army Training Centre since December last year, have completed stationary camp at Pasuljanske Livade Training Area.
While in the field, they practiced tactics and conducted firing practices using the weapons specific to their respective branches aiming to improve their knowledge and gain the skills necessary for a successful execution of defensive and offensive combat missions.

Doing practical activities on the training ground is an introduction to collective training, which the soldiers will go through in SAF units in accordance with their respective military occupational specialties.
During the camp, military service volunteers carry out all assigned tasks preparing for the execution of specific tasks in combat, explains Colonel Duško Jović, Commander of the Army Training Centre.

— The Army Training Centre, as a subordinate unit of the Training Command, is used for individual specialized training, primarily for soldiers performing their military service. The Centre provides training for 54 Army specialties. Here, we teach soldiers how to carry out all their tasks in peacetime and in battle – emphasizes Colonel Jović.
Deputy Commander of the Training Battalion at the Army Training Centre, Major Mladen Vučeljić, explains that the purpose of the camp is for soldiers to get an insight into the organization of life and work in the field, which entails living in tents, this time in snow-covered terrain, eating in the field, and the continuation of practical field training, including a 10-kilometre march.

— As a culmination of everything they have learned in the recent period, this week, the soldiers will conduct live fire using collective weapons specific to their respective branches, i.e. specialties. During the camp, soldiers will certainly acquire the most knowledge, and the time they have spent here will create lifetime memories – says Major Vučeljić and adds that the December class they are currently training includes artillery, engineer and infantry soldiers, as well as scouts and military policemen.
Lance Corporal Boris Varzanović, a sniper who is doing his voluntary military service at the Army Training Centre, says that he is more than satisfied with the organization of activities in the field and his rapport with his superiors. He says that the most interesting part was preparing the campsite.

— At times, the temperature could go as low as -10 degrees Celsius, but it was ok. Collective spirit is very important in the Serbian Armed Forces, because without a good collective spirit, you won’t be able to accomplish any mission. An individual soldiers means nothing without his or her fellow soldiers — says Lance Corporal Varzanović and discloses his intention to seek employment with the Serbian Armed Forces Guard.
Once they return from their five-day stationary camp, the soldiers will undergo skills assessment, after which they will be sent to SAF units for a three-month collective training.
