Acting Assistant Minister Bandić meets with Chief of NATO Military Liaison Office
Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić met with the Chief of the NATO Military Liaison Office Belgrade, Brigadier General Pierluigi Lodola, in Belgrade today.
The meeting discussed Serbia-NATO cooperation under the Partnership for Peace programme and the current political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
Assistant Minister Bandić welcomed General Lodola on behalf of Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and stressed that the cooperation between Serbia and NATO under the Partnership for Peace programme was extensive, mutually beneficial and had potential for further development. He also added that the NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade was supportive of the implementation of joint activities.
He highlighted the cooperation with KFOR and stressed that the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija was extremely difficult for the Serbian people living in the province, bearing in mind potential escalations and unforeseen consequences for the regional security.
General Lodola said that NATO appreciated long-term partnership with Serbia, fully respecting the country’s neutrality. During the conversation, he also said that it was necessary to continue carrying out cooperation activities for mutual benefit.
