4th Army Brigade tankmen possess excellent combat skills

A tank battalion of the 4th Army Brigade is currently conducting regular training in the combat use of the M-84 tank in the unit’s peacetime training areas and exercise grounds.
The tank crews are conducting tactical and firearms training designed to maintain and improve their ability to perform tasks during offensive and defensive Army operations and are preparing for live fire drills.

— Today, you had the opportunity to see tank units conduct training in handling personal and collective weapons, carrying out the ‘ready for march’ and ‘ready to fire’ commands, and forming a marching column, the purpose of which was to revise the content they have already learned — underlined Lieutenant Vladimir Vozarević, a platoon leader at the tank company.

He notes that training takes place on a daily basis in tank units, not only in their peacetime base but also in the Pasuljanske Livade and Orešac training areas, where more complex tactical drills and different forms of firing practices are conducted.
A three-member tank crew consists of a commander, gunner and driver, whose roles are not interchangeable. Corporal Miloš Filipović, an M-84 tank driver, describes his duties:

— A tank driver is in charge of driving the tank and maintaining its undercarriage. Their duties include the proper handling of all devices and engines, taking care of fuel and lubricant consumption, assisting the commander and gunner in loading the tank with ammunition and carrying out all orders issued by the commander.

One of the tank crewmembers is Corporal Marko Ljubić, an M-84 tank gunner. He operates the 125 mm gun and the 12.7 and 7.6 mm fixed machine guns.
  — I have gained a lot of experience firing at Pasuljanske Livade. We are firing using instantaneous-explosive rounds at distances of 1,500 m and over 3,000 m. Being a tank gunner is a very challenging and responsible job, but it is incredibly satisfying at the same time because the tank’s enormous firepower is practically in your hands.

Young men and women interested in working in this unit and other Army brigades can apply for the competition for admission to SAF tank, mechanized and artillery units as professional soldiers, which is open for applications until February 15. By joining the military profession, they can get a secure job, early retirement benefits, and excellent military health insurance for themselves and their family members, as well as opportunities for continuous professional development and career advancement.
