Continuous training imperative for mechanized units
Mechanized units of the 1st Army Brigade are currently conducting training in the combat use of principal combat systems, to help professional members achieve a high degree of proficiency and maintain readiness for providing fire support to SAF units on operations.
During this period, members of the 17th Mechanized Battalion, 1st Army Brigade, are training at the Bačka Barracks and Brioni Training Area. The training objective, as stated by Captain 1st Class Aleksandar Čanak, mechanized company commander, is to provide crewmembers with an opportunity to practice their skills on all types of terrain and in all weather conditions.
— Once we complete our training in the garrison, we will conduct firing practices using the armoured units’ newly adopted and modernized weapons at firing ranges and training areas. The culmination of the training will be a tactical live fire exercise, where we will use the experience, knowledge and skills we have acquired — says Captain 1st Class Čanak, explaining the training dynamics.
The training is being conducted on M-80A infantry fighting vehicles and includes a series of activities such as preparations for the execution of a task, tactics used while on the march and during defensive and offensive operations, and the maintenance of the vehicle’s subsystems and weapons.
Lance Corporal Petar Zlatar, an IFV machine gunner, says that his role is particularly demanding, and the training conducted in the unit is diverse and interesting.
— If you want a challenging and complex job with regular salary, health insurance and early retirement benefits, the Serbian Armed Forces are the right choice for you — adds Lance Corporal Zlatar, encouraging all interested young men and women to apply for the Serbian Armed Forces’ competition for admission to mechanized units.
The competition for admission to the tank, artillery and mechanized units of the Serbian Armed Forces is open until February 15. Young men and women under the age of 30, regardless of whether they have completed military service under arms or not, are eligible to apply and obtain a secure job in the military, as well as early retirement benefits, military health insurance for themselves and their family members and opportunities for continuous professional development and career advancement.
