Minister Gašić greets Serbian peacekeepers returning from Lebanon

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić welcomed today at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport members of the Serbian Armed Forces who were deployed with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) over the past six months.
The regular personnel rotation included the replacement of the previous contingent consisting of an infantry company drawn from the Third Army Brigade, staff officers and a group of specialists tasked with providing support to our contingent.

The Minister of Defence extended a warm welcome to our peacekeepers and thanked them for having successfully carried out responsible tasks in the mission area, like all their predecessors, and said he was glad that everyone was well.
  - You managed to represent us worthily in a multinational environment and a complex security situation. Your job was not at all easy, considering the unstable situation in Lebanon - said Minister Gašić.

With their courage and responsibility, the peacekeepers showed "the true face of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Serbia", he said.
  - Thanks to your dedication, hard work and professionalism, you managed to respond to all challenges and successfully fulfil all your tasks in accordance with the mission mandate, earning our gratitude and recognition - said the Minister of Defence.

He wished a merry Christmas to our peacekeepers and their families and expressed hope that the new rotation of our peacekeepers in Lebanon would have a more peaceful deployment over the next six months.
The new Serbian contingent will be deployed to the mission area tomorrow.

Today’s welcoming ceremony was attended by the Head of the Operations Department, General Staff, Major General Gordan Pavlović and the Commander of the Third Army Brigade, Colonel Vladan Milosavljević.
