Meeting between President Vučić and Cypriot Defence Minister Palmas
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, met with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Vasilis Palmas, at the Palace of Serbia today.
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić was in attendance at the meeting.
President Vučić assessed his conversation with the Minister of Defence of Cyprus about strengthening cooperation, especially in the field of defence and security, as excellent and substantive, and said that it was of great importance for preserving peace and stability in our region.
"I have specifically informed my esteemed interlocutor about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the pressure Serbs are exposed to, as well as the threats to their survival in their centuries-old homes. We have also exchanged views on the current security risks in the context of the most recent geopolitical tensions and conflicts in several key regions, as well as on common goals within international missions," said President Vučić.
He reiterated his gratitude to Cyprus for standing firm in its decision not to recognize the so-called Kosovo, and highlighted Serbia’s full support for Cyprus’s efforts to resolve its most important national issue, with the aim of preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty.
- I said I hoped I would soon be able to host a great friend of Serbia, President Nikos Christodoulides, in Belgrade, since the relationship between Serbia and Cyprus is based on firm friendship, mutual trust, a historically proven closeness and solidarity between our peoples," Vučić wrote in his Instagram post.
