Evaluation of force protection platoon’s readiness for deployment to peacekeeping operation

Tactical Exercise Serbian Shield was conducted this week at the Borovac Training Ground and Base South to test the readiness of a force protection platoon for deployment to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The exercise was conducted after several months of preparation to test the readiness of this Training Command unit to deploy to the mission area in Lebanon, where its primary task will be to secure the base where the UN peacekeepers are stationed.

During the exercise, the unit members solved tactical missions similar to those awaiting them in the mission area, while their level of training and interoperability was evaluated by a team of evaluators from the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.

The results show that the force protection platoon has reached the required standards and that it is fully trained, equipped and ready to be deployed to the peacekeeping operation.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been contributing a force protection platoon to UNIFIL since 2014. In addition to the platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces contingent serving in Lebanon also includes an infantry company, staff officers and a group of specialists responsible for providing support to our contingent.
