UN Staff Officers Course

A three-week international UN Staff Officers Course, organized by the Serbian Armed Forces’ Peacekeeping Operations Centre, has been successfully conducted at Base South near Bujanovac.
The course, which was attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and the armed forces of nine other countries, has provided the trainees with all the skills necessary to perform staff duties in UN peacekeeping operations.

The training programme included theory lessons and practice, which covered the most important aspects of the functioning of UN integrated missions, the military component planning process and staff functions and procedures. The trainees also had the chance to hear first-hand experiences from current peacekeeping operations.

The course was delivered by a team of MoD and SAF instructors, instructors from partner centres in Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as visiting lecturers from the Ministry of the Interior, the Red Cross of Serbia, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
The Peacekeeping Operations Centre is certified to deliver the course by the UN Integrated Training Service. As in previous years, foreign forces have shown great interest in sending their personnel to this course, which testifies to the quality of pre-deployment training conducted by the Serbian Armed Forces.
