Wreaths Laid to Mark Veterans’ Day
Today, on the occasion of the Veterans’ Day - 4th December, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić has laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero atop Mount Avala.
He laid the wreath accompanied by Brigadier General Goran Momčilović and Brigadier General Mile Vitezović.
On the occasion of Military Veterans Day, delegations from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have laid wreaths today at the Monument to the Victims of NATO Aggression in Vranje, at the Monument to the Kosovo Heroes in Kruševac, at the Monument to the Fallen in World War I in Paraćin, and at the ‘Freedom’ Monument on the Iriski Venac on Fruška Gora.
Military Veterans’ Day is marked in memory of the date when the armistice was signed in 1912 in the First Balkan War. At that time, 400,000 soldiers of the Kingdom of Serbia Army received the title of “old warrior”, or war veteran.
