Foreign military representatives receive briefing on issues within the competence of the Defence Policy Sector

Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić and Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation of the Defence Policy Sector Colonel Zlatko Bogosavljević have briefed today the foreign military representatives accredited to the Republic of Serbia on issues within the competence of the Defence Policy Sector, at the ‘Breza’ Hotel of the ‘Tara’ Military Establishment in Vrnjačka Banja.

On that occasion, Assistant Minister Bandić briefed the foreign military representatives on the current political and security situation in the region, where he emphasized the firm position of the Republic of Serbia’s military neutrality and its commitment to resolving security risks in the region peacefully, stating that, in this regard, the Republic of Serbia is taking measures to build and improve the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces, relying primarily on its own capacities.

He pointed out that equipping the Serbian Armed Forces with assets produced in the domestic defence industry, along with the introduction of mandatory military service, as well as building partnerships with international actors, were just a series of measures that contribute to the protection of military neutrality.
The Assistant Minister particularly pointed out the irresponsible and unilateral moves of Albin Kurti, which are aimed at intimidating the Serbian people and expelling them from Kosovo and Metohija, which certainly has an adverse effect on the stability of the entire region and does not contribute to achieving a lasting solution.

The Head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Colonel Zlatko Bogosavljević, thanked those present for their cooperation in the previous calendar year and emphasized that during the forthcoming period he expects intensification and improvement of cooperation with countries with which the Republic of Serbia shares common interests.

The briefing for foreign military representatives accredited to the Republic of Serbia is a regular activity of the Defence Policy Sector, during which representatives of foreign armed forces are presented the results achieved in the field of defence policy during the year, as well as plans for the next year.
