Minister Gašić attends celebration of 100 years of volleyball in Serbia
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić has attended the ceremony marking 100 years of volleyball in Serbia, at the Sava Center in Belgrade, tonight.
The ceremony, hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, was attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Miloš Vučević, ministers in the Government, the Head of the Defence Minister’s Private Office Brigadier General Goran Momčilović, prominent national team players, winners of numerous medals in the history of Serbian volleyball, and prominent guests from the country and the world.
In his address, Prime Minister Vučević emphasized that all great deeds were created where there was faith, love and devotion, and that our people remember most what was done for the representation of their country, adding that in this way athletes are inscribed in the collective memory of the people, because doing something for the team and the nation is the greatest achievement. On that occasion, he emphasized that the state will continue to invest in the development of sports and future generations of champions.
On the occasion of the century of volleyball in Serbia, the guests were addressed by the Minister of Sports Zoran Gajić and the Vice President of the World Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Djula Mešter.
