Cadet Training with Self-Propelled Artillery Systems

Over the last two weeks, Artillery cadets of the Military Academy underwent training with 122 mm 2S1 self-propelled howitzers on training grounds and exercise areas of the Serbian Armed Forces.
This training programme is designed to continue the cycle of training cadets in practical actions and skills, general goal being to improve both individual and collective skills of cadets and to examine in detail the work of Armyartillery units.

In this training phase, future officers of the Serbian Armed Forces focused on timely introduction of an artillery unit into combat and organisation of artillery fire. They also trained to prepare and deliver indirect artillery fire in line with set standards and norms for effective action, with an emphasis on practicing actions and procedures necessary to direct sudden, effective and concentrated artillery fire on targets at different distances.

During the training process, the training activity also involved the modernised version of self-propelled howitzer in addition to the basic one, which has greater firepower, speed and accuracy of fire after a modern fire control system has been installed, as well as a stronger effect on the target by hitting it simultaneously with several projectiles.
Special forms of training implemented in units and institutions of the Serbian Armed Forces are a mandatory part of education of cadets in their final years of Military Academy studies, during which they upgrade knowledge acquired in this higher education institution and gain experience that will help them prepare in the best way for their initial officer roles.
