Strengthening bilateral military cooperation with Cyprus
Commander of the National Guard Cyprus Lt. Gen. Georgios Tsitsikostas has spent the past three days visiting the Republic of Serbia, at the invitation of the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.
During the visit, the two sides held open and constructive talks, reaffirming mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral military relations, and made an agreement to intensify cooperation – primarily in carrying out joint activities involving ground, air and special forces.
Apart from visiting the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Tsitsikostas has met with State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, and visited some of our military units and the production facilities at one of PE Jugoimport SDPR’s factories.
During General Tsitsikostas’s visit to the 72nd Special Operations Brigade at the military airfield Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović in Batajanica, some of the capabilities of our special forces, as well as modern weapons and military equipment used by SAF units, were presented to the Cyprus delegation.
This has been a successful visit and an excellent opportunity to further strengthen the already close bilateral military cooperation with Cyprus, which aims to build the capabilities of armed forces and strengthen the ties between the two friendly nations and countries.
