President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Serbia



Тhe President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, welcomed today the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who is on an official visit to our country. The welcoming ceremony was held outside the Palace of Serbia with full state and military honours.
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić was in attendance at the official welcoming ceremony for the President of Kazakhstan.

To honour President Tokayev, national anthems of Serbia and Kazakhstan were played, a guard of honour was provided by the Honour Guard Battalion and a 10-round gun salute was fired from 10 artillery weapons.
After a private meeting between the two presidents, a plenary meeting between the Serbian and Kazakh delegations was held, with Minister Gašić in attendance.

During today’s visit, a ceremony to exchange bilateral documents signed between Serbia and Kazakhstan was held, in the presence of presidents Vučić and Tokayev.
Minister Gašić and the Minister of Defence of Kazakhstan, Col. Gen. Ruslan Zhaksylykov, exchanged the defence cooperation agreement signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The signing of the said agreement marks the start of an upward trend in bilateral cooperation and enables the two countries to further strengthen defence cooperation.
 
According to President Vučić, one of the topics of today’s talks was military-to-military cooperation, as well as collaboration in the fields of military medicine and military technology.
- The representatives of PE Jugoimport-SDPR had fruitful talks with their Kazakh partners, which Minister Gašić confirmed at the plenary meeting today - said the President of Serbia and expressed his belief that significant results would soon be achieved in that area in the best interest of both countries.
 
According to President Tokayev, the defence industry is one of the important areas of cooperation between Serbia and Kazakhstan and the main task is to examine potential ways to integrate it more tightly into bilateral cooperation.  
  Later today, the presidents of Serbia and Kazakhstan will attend a display of weapons and military equipment at the military airfield Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović in Batajnica.

Last night, an on-duty fighter aviation unit of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence escorted President Tokayev’s plane on MiG-29 fighter jets as it entered the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
