International Civil-Military Cooperation Course
This week and next week, in Kruševac, an international Civil-Military Cooperation Course is being held hosted by the Department for Civil-Military Cooperation (J-9) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.
The course participants are officers and NCOs from the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Italy, the United States of America and the Netherlands, who deal with CIMIC affairs, as well as representatives of civil institutions from the Republic of Serbia.
During the two-week training activity at the “Tzar Lazar” barracks, they will be trained to work on various positions in CIMIC teams and units at the tactical level and will expand their knowledge about the activities of civil organisations in the areas of multinational operations.
Practical and theoretical training is carried out by a combined team of instructors from the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of Italy, the USA and the Netherlands, as well as guest lecturers from the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior, Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and Red Cross of Serbia.
This international training provides participants with a basis for a better understanding of modern challenges in working with civil organisations in a complex operational environment, and is also an opportunity for officers and NCOs from different countries to exchange experience in the field of cooperation with non-military structures.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been organising this course since 2008, and so far more than 400 participants from the Republic of Serbia and 17 partner countries from the region and world have been trained according to this training model.
