Commemoration of the Liberation of Belgrade in World War II



The event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade in World War II was held today at the National Theatre in Belgrade.

The commemoration was attended by the envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, ministers in the Government of Serbia, members of the Collegium of the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of the diplomatic and military-diplomatic corps, representatives of the City of Belgrade, numerous associations, veterans, friends and guests from the country and abroad.
 
The commemoration included also a cultural and artistic programme.

Belgrade was liberated 80 years ago, on this day, 20th October 1944, in one of the largest and most significant battles in the Balkans in World War II.
