“Drava does not surrender” film premiers

The feature-length documentary “Drava does not surrender” has been premiered tonight at the Yugoslav Film Archive in Belgrade.

‘Zastava Film’ Military Film Centre of the Ministry of Defence Public Relations Department in co-production with Animation, Visual Effects and Post Production company ‘Crater Studio’ and with the support of the Film Centre of Serbia, as well as the Provincial Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the City of Novi Sad and municipalities of Stara Pazova, Novi Bečej and Bačka Palanka, made the film out of a sense of deepest respect for the heroism of the commander of the river monitor “Drava”, Lieutenant Commander Aleksandar Berić and the crew of that ship.

The plot of the film, directed by Nikola Lorencin, based on the script of Lieutenant Commander Dragan Spasojević from the River Flotilla, follows the fate of the ship’s commander and his crew and evokes a lesser-known story about the feats in the defence of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia at the beginning of the World War II.

Filming symbolically began in the apartment of Aleksandra Berić, granddaughter of hero Berić, with participation of actors Marija Bergam, Lazar Đukić, as well as students of the acting school in Banja Luka.

The producers are the director of ‘Zastava Film’ Military Film Centre Colonel Goran Ikonić and the director of ‘Crater Studio’ Petar Jovović, director of photography Aleksandar Serđo Kalezić, narrator Miodrag Miki Krstović and film editor Marko Dragišić.

The screening of the film was attended by members of the Collegium of the Minister of Defence and Chief of Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and numerous guests.
