Tank crews in training for T-72MS tank use
Training is underway on the ranges and training areas in the vicinity of Niš for the professional members of armoured units armed with T-72MS tanks.
The training involves members of tank battalions from Army brigades, whose principal combat asset is the M-84 tank. The goal is to train the Serbian Armed Forces’ tankers in the combat use of both tank types, ensure that the personnel is replaceable, and enhance the armoured units’ tenacity and resilience in combat.In accordance with the training programme designed for several months of training, during the first phase, the tankers learned about the possibilities of use of the T-72MS tank, as well as about its modernized sub-systems and basic maintenance, and are now undergoing tactical field training.
In this phase, the main focus is on practicing the tactics and procedures for the preparation and execution of a march, reconnaissance and combat actions when confronted by the enemy, as well as the integration of all crew members’ fires and manoeuvre tactics.
What awaits the tankers in the upcoming training phases is familiarization fire and firing practices, followed by tactical exercises and live-fire drills, where they will have the chance to test their knowledge and skill of integrating fires and manoeuvre and try out the capabilities of this complex combat system.
