Command and Staff Course students visit River Flotilla
The students (71st class) attending the Command and Staff Course at Field Marshal Radomir Putnik School of National Defence made a field trip today to the SAF River Flotilla at Aleksandar Berić Barracks in Novi Sad.
The purpose of the visit, paid as part of the Command and Control module, was for the officers who are preparing for command and staff appointments to familiarize themselves with the role and importance of this SAF unit, the river units’ branch and the amphibious and pontoon specialties of the engineer branch.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the purpose, role and tasks of the River Flotilla, its ability to conduct operations independently or in conjunction with other units of the Army and Air Force and Air Defence and the specificities of carrying out tasks on inland waterways.
The Command and Staff Course, which runs for one academic year at the Defence University, is a second-level career course, designed to prepare officers to command battalion-sized tactical units and to perform staff duties in tactical and operational commands.
