SAF paratroopers win open state championship

The Serbian Armed Forces’ Sky Otters Parachute Team triumphed in accuracy landing event at the 70th Serbian Open Parachute Championship, which was held over the past three days at the Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović Military Airfield in Niš.
Sergeant Major Milan Svetozarević from the 63rd Parachute Brigade came first in the individual event, while Sergeant Major Radmila Đurić from the same unit took first place in the women’s individual event.

The host of this year’s championship, organized by the Aeronautical Union of Serbia, was the 63rd Parachute Brigade, since this year marks the 80th anniversary of the formation of the first military parachute unit.
Paratroopers jumped from an altitude of 1000 m to a target pad measuring only 2 cm in diameter. Six teams from Serbia and one from Bosnia and Herzegovina took part.

The event consisted of eight rounds, plus the additional semi-final and final jumps.
The most accurate individual competitors and teams were awarded the title of state champions, while the best competitors in the open event received special awards. Cups, medals and diplomas for the team event were presented by the mayor of Niš, Dragoslav Pavlović.

The 63rd Parachute Brigade members’ triumph at the state championship is one more in a series of successes they have achieved at domestic and international competitions and an indicator that military paratroopers have a high degree of skill, as well as a strong sporting and fighting spirit.
