Scouts train to overcome water obstacles
Members of the reconnaissance company, Fourth Army Brigade, are undergoing their summer training to enhance their ability to carry out reconnaissance tasks in the areas outside the unit’s peacetime location.
During the final segment of this training cycle, scouts practice overcoming water obstacles using standard and improvised watercraft and carrying out tactical missions in different environments, utilizing camouflage and moving covertly.
Leaders and soldiers are being taught to operate assault boats, make rafts from barrels, tires and other materials, and scout water obstacles.
They also practice the use of modern observation devices and systems, whose introduction into service has greatly enhanced the unit’s observation, intelligence collection and processing capabilities.
The commander of the reconnaissance platoon says that, over the past three weeks, they have covered several important topics, focusing on reconnaissance operations in the enemy's rear.
— Company members have been taught to find food in the wild, as well as to carry out various tasks related to collecting intelligence in the enemy's rear. During the second week, they were trained in swimming, wrestling and the use of knife, which is a prerequisite for independent execution of all tasks, while the third week was devoted to learning how to overcome water obstacles. New members of the reconnaissance company are being trained to use standard equipment in overcoming water obstacles, as well as improvised equipment made from things such as barrels, boards, tires and other materials that can be found floating in the river and can help to overcome certain water obstacles - says the platoon commander and adds that these training segments are very important for successful execution of tasks in all weather and combat conditions.
According to him, a small-scale exercise has been conducted at the end of each training phase, checking the level of knowledge scouts have acquired and how successfully they can put it to practice.
The training activity is part of the reconnaissance units’ regular summer training, and is conducted in order to maintain the scouts’ expertise in carrying out reconnaissance tasks in the depth of enemy’s dispositions.
