Minister Gašić visits Serbian Armed Forces members in Ground Safety Zone



Today, the Minister of Defence, Bratislav Gašić, and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Gen. Milan Mojsilović, visited members of the Serbian Armed Forces tasked with guarding the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija and overseeing the Ground Safety Zone.  

Minister Gašić and General Mojsilović first visited the service members stationed at the Debela Glava and Ornica bases, where the commanders of the bases presented them with the organization of life and work at the bases and where they saw our service members’ competence and motivation for performing tasks in the Ground Safety Zone. Afterwards, they visited the new firing complex Vrtogoš, which is intended for individual and collective firearms training.  

Minister Gašić thanked all members of the Serbian Armed Forces for their great commitment and dedication to carrying out tasks in the Ground Safety Zone.

- I would like to thank our service members for carrying out tasks assigned to them in complex conditions and in all kinds of weather, day and night. By doing their job responsibly, by showing commitment and above all patriotism, they make a major contribution to the security of our citizens in this part of our country – said the minister.
According to Minister Gašić, the citizens are proud and place great trust in the Serbian Armed Forces as an important factor in ensuring peace and stability.

- Today’s tour of Debela Glava and Ornica bases was an excellent opportunity for me to make sure that service members perform the tasks of guarding the administrative line and overseeing the Ground Safety Zone professionally and responsibly. Thank you to them for showing concern for the homeland so far from their families and for safeguarding peace for the citizens of our country - said Minister Gašić.

During today’s tour, Minister Gašić and General Mojsilović spoke with soldiers about the tasks they perform along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, as well as about the living and working conditions in the bases.
The minister of defence was also briefed about the condition of infrastructure facilities and informed that steps would be taken to improve the living and working conditions in the bases other facilities used by the military in the Ground Safety Zone.
