Training of Serbian Armed Forces Units for Engagement in Peacekeeping Operation

At the  Training Ground “Borovac”and Base “South” near Bujanovac, Serbian Armed Forces’ unit from the Training Command are undergoing collective training for the engagement in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

This is the final phase of several-month long preparation that members of the unit go through before their deployment to the Area of Operation in order to be fully trained to perform their tasks as part of the peacekeeping forces.

In the Area of Operation, this unit will be responsible for the securing the base where UN forces are stationed, while, at the moment, the unit is practicing appropriate tactics, techniques and procedures in field conditions focusing on the procedures while patrolling and securing the base.

Collective training ends in late July, when a tactical exercise will be carried out, during which the skills and interoperability of the unit for the engagement in the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon will be tested in practice.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection unit in the United Nations mission in this Middle Eastern country since 2014; currently, an infantry company of the Serbian Armed Forces, staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent are deployed in the Area of Operation.
