Monument to Second Lieutenant Leovac Unveiled in Pljevlje



Today, a monument dedicated to the hero of Košare Second Lieutenant Predrag Peđa Leovac was unveiled in Pljevlje.

The unveiling of the monument was attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Miloš Vučević, delegation of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces and Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Montenegro Nebojša Rodić who later laid wreaths at the monument.

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces was led by Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Nebojša Nikolić, and it consisted of Head of Public Relations Department Brigadier General Mihailo Zogović PhD and Deputy Commander of the border outpost Košare and comrade-in-arms Second Lieutenant Saša Radojević.

The unveiling of the monument and wreath laying ceremony was also attended by members of Leovac family, friends, citizens, and comrades-in-arms, representatives of the Centre of Culture “Predrag Peđa Leovac” and Pljevlje Municipality.

Bishop of Mileševa Atanasije conferred to Leovac family the Order of White Angel of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Second Lieutenant of Yugoslav Armed Forces Predrag (Mila) Leovac was born on 20th December 1975 in Pljevlje in Montenegro. He graduated from the Army Military Academy, of Infantry Department. During combat engagement in Kosovo and Metohija he performed the duty of platoon commander in 53rd border battalion. He died fighting against Albanian terrorists on 14th April 1999 in the area of the village Košare near Đakovica. He was decorated with the Order of merit in the field of defence and security of 1st  degree. This year, at the commemoration of 25th anniversary of the death of Second Lieutenant, his family received the Golden Plaque of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.
