Deep Diving Training
Members of diving unit from the River Flotilla have carried out several-day training on the Zavojsko Lake near Pirot, and fitness training for the execution of a wide spectrum of tasks along inland waterways.
This training marked the summer cycle of divers’ training, the goals of which is to maintain and further enhance both individual and collective competence and overall combat readiness of the unit.
During several-day stay on the lake, the divers carried out planned content of the deep dive training, at depths up to 50 metres, and trained tactical actions and procedures for search and rescue in rivers, lakes and canals, and for the extraction of sunken objects.
The focus was placed on additional training of the youngest divers who are in this way systemically prepared for higher divers’ categories, and consequently, for more complex and dangerous tasks.
Divers’ training in the Serbian Armed Forces is very demanding because divers are expected to be ready for action in extreme conditions, at all times, and only the highest proficiency level guarantees a successful completion of all tasks, from underwater mine placement, anti-mine and anti-commando support for important facilities along inland waterways, to search and rescue in all hydrometeorological conditions.
