Republic of Serbia takes over command of Balkan Medical Task Force



The command handover/takeover ceremony of the Balkan Medical Task Force was held today as part of the 4th Regional Military Medical Conference in Belgrade.
The ceremony was attended by Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, Head of the Military Health Department Brigadier General Radivoje Anđelković, MD, Ambassador of the United States of America Christopher Hill, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Kristin Melsom, representatives of the diplomatic corps and numerous conference participants.
 
The international organisation - Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF), whose permanent headquarters are in Skopje, was established in 2016 and reached full operational capability in 2019.
This multinational military medical unit enables its member states - Serbia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Montenegro, partnered up with the USA and Norway, to use their medical personnel and resources more efficiently, without duplication or loss of effectiveness, with the aim of providing medical support on Crisis Response Operations.
