Meeting with Commander of Italian Command for Joint Operations

The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, has received the Commander of the Italian Command for Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.
General Mojsilović and his Italian guest, Commander of the Joint Operations Command responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the military operations of the Italian Armed Forces, discussed the current security situation in the region and the world, as well as the operational aspects of military-to-military cooperation.

According to General Mojsilović, the ongoing armed conflicts in Europe and the Middle East have a negative impact on the security situation in the region, which, despite the circumstances, is relatively stable. The biggest security threat, according to him, are unilateral moves made by the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština and repression by the so-called special police force against the Serbs living in the Province. The influx of illegal migrants poses a certain degree of challenge as well, General Mojsilović said.
Analysing the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the Chief of the General Staff said that the Serbian Armed Forces rigorously adhere to the Military-Technical Agreement and that, in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1244 and all signed agreements, they recognize KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in the Province that can protect the Serbian population and our national, religious, cultural and historical heritage in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.

Therefore, he said, the international security force in the Province, including the Italian contingent which plays a significant role in it, is expected to fully and impartially implement its mandate and respond to any attempt at threatening citizen safety.
