Minister Gašić meets with Chief of General Staff of Azerbaijani Armed Forces Valiyev
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Col. Gen. Karim Valiyev, who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
Minister Gašić welcomed General Valiyev to Serbia, saying that the visit is an excellent opportunity to expand defence cooperation.
At the meeting, Minister Gašić spoke about his visit to friendly Azerbaijan last week, gave his thanks for the warm welcome, and expressed his satisfaction with the constructive talks he had had with representatives of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Defence Industry.
According to him, the close relationship between the Serbian and Azerbaijani heads of state, Aleksandar Vučić and Ilham Aliyev, reflect the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries free from any open issues, and provides a solid basis for overall bilateral relations to continue developing to the satisfaction of both sides.
According to Minister Gašić, Serbia is extremely grateful to Azerbaijan for providing principled and unreserved support for our country’s territorial integrity and wholeness and for advocating in favour of the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija in international organizations. Our country, according to him, is committed to political dialogue with Priština and a peaceful resolution to all issues.
General Valiyev thanked Minister Gašić for the warm reception and expressed his belief that, during his visit to our country, he would have an informed and constructive conversation with the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, to agree on the details of the mutually beneficial military to military cooperation.
