Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service Day

A ceremony to mark the Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service Day was held in Banjica Barracks today. This service observes June 18 in memory of the day in 1915 when an order was issued to establish permanent signal stations to identify the direction of enemy aircraft.
At the ceremony, the results of past year’s work were summarized, awards were presented to the most deserving members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade and wreaths were laid at the memorial for victims of the 1999 NATO aggression located in the barracks.

The summary of the results placed a particular emphasis on the professional staff’s skills improvement and the introduction of new automatic systems and state-of-the-art long-range radars into service.
The ceremony was attended by Air Force and Air Defence Commander Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, representatives of SAF units, Serbian Orthodox Church, local authorities and institutions collaborating with the Brigade.

Members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade celebrated today the unit’s feast day – St. Venerable Peter of Korish.
