SAF unit preparing for deployment in peacekeeping operation

An infantry company drawn from the Third Army Brigade, committed to participation in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), is going through the second phase of pre-deployment training in Base South and Borovac Training Ground.
This is one of the segments of pre-deployment training lasting for several months that professional soldiers and leaders of the Serbian Armed Forces need to go through prior to their deployment to the area of operations. The goal is to fully prepare them for the execution of tasks as part of the peacekeeping force.

After the individual and fire training conducted in the first training phase, the unit is now practicing tactics, techniques and procedures for the execution of tasks awaiting them in Lebanon, such as guarding the check-points, escorting convoys and performing crowd control. Tactical missions and training scenarios designed for unit members are completely adapted to the situations they might encounter in the theatre.
The company’s training ends at the end of the month with the execution of a tactical exercise, where the degree of preparation and practice necessary for their participation in UNIFIL will be assessed.

The Serbian Armed Forces started contributing an infantry company to the mission in Lebanon in 2013. Our force protection platoon, staff officers and a group of specialists responsible for providing support to our contingent are currently serving in this UN peacekeeping operation.
