Meeting between defence ministers of Serbia, United Arab Emirates
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Minister of State for Defense Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammad bin Mubarak Fadhel Al-Mazrouei, in the Old General Staff building in Belgrade.
After an official welcoming ceremony with the Honour Guard and the playing of national anthems, a meeting between the two delegations was held. At the meeting, opinions were exchanged about the current global geopolitical and security situation, cooperation in the field of defence industry, as well as the current projects as part of the military to military and military economic cooperation and the possibilities to further improve the cooperation.
Minister Gašić said that for Serbia, the United Arab Emirates were one of the most important countries in the Middle East and reaffirmed our commitment to preserving the traditionally good relationship between the two countries, based on mutual friendship.
According to Minister Gašić, the personal and exceptionally friendly relationship between the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and the President of the United Arab Emirates and Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has made a major contribution to the strengthening and development of the overall relations between the two countries, including the defence cooperation. Today's talks with Minister Al-Mazrouei, a representative of a friendly country to which we have close ties, are very important for Serbia, which is facing pressures and challenges that build up tensions and destabilize the region instead of promoting reconciliation, Minister Gašić said.According to him, the cordial and open conversation held with Minister Al-Mazrouei today acts as a support for our sustained efforts to pursue the policy aimed at building lasting peace, stability and progress in the Balkans based on honest dialogue and cooperation.
We will seek to further strengthen the partnership with the United Arab Emirates in many fields and make it as close and comprehensive as possible by looking for new opportunities to develop joint projects and activities as part of cooperation in the fields of military economy, military technology, military education and medicine, said Minister Gašić.The U.A.E. Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Al-Mazrouei, congratulated Minister Gašić on his appointment as minister of defence and wished him much success in his future endeavours. During the meeting, he pointed out the importance of the cooperation between our two countries in defence and all other fields.
