President Vučić welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping

The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, welcomed today the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, who is on an official two-day visit to our country. The official welcoming ceremony with full state and military honours was held outside the Palace of Serbia.
The official welcoming ceremony for the Chinese president was attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić.

National anthems of Serbia and China were played with the Honour Guard standing at attention, and 10 gun salutes were fired from 10 artillery weapons to honour the Chinese president.
Following a closed meeting between presidents Vučić and Xi Jinping, a plenary session will be held between the two countries’ delegations, which will be attended by Minister Gašić as well. On that occasion, the two presidents’ Joint Statements will be signed and the signed bilateral documents will be exchanged.

Last night, an on-duty fighter aviation unit of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence escorted the Chinese president’s plane in MiG-29 fighter jets once it entered the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
