Final part of Exercise Whirlwind 2024’s active phase
Joint Tactical Exercise Whirlwind 2024 has entered its final phase, with troops of the Serbian Armed Forces carrying out the most complex activities in permanent and provisional exercise areas.
A tactical exercise was carried out by the River Flotilla on the provisional range near Titel today. It was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić and the head of the Operations Department of the General Staff, Major General Tiosav Janković.
Units conducted drills on the Tisza River, practicing combat and tactical anti-ship and counter-mine action, anti-sabotage defence of ships, passage of obstacles and casualty rescue and evacuation. The event ended with a live fire drill conducted by a group of ships, engaging targets on land and water.
During the final part of the active phase, the focus was on joint drills and tactical live-fire drills, aimed at testing and enhancing the troops’ capability to conduct crisis response operations.
At the same time, another exercise was conducted by a tactical group at the Pasuljanske Livade Range, practicing an offensive operation. Infantry, mechanized, armoured and artillery units conducted complex tactical and fire missions and demonstrated a high level of competence for carrying out combat tasks in cooperation.
During the exercise, tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, artillery weapons, air defence systems, antitank missile systems, mortars and various types of modern small arms delivered fire on targets, and remotely piloted aircraft and multisensor reconnaissance systems were actively used.
