Rotation of SAF contingent in peacekeeping operation in Sinai

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, who provided support to the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) mission in the Sinai Peninsula since last July, have returned to the Republic of Serbia after successfully completing their deployment and handing over to a new contingent.
This is the first contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces that has been deployed with MFO, which was established in 1981 to supervise the implementation of security provisions of the Treaty of Peace signed between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel in 1978.

Over the past seven months, the SAF contingent, i.e. a ten-member engineer task force, was responsible for performing engineering and infrastructure works at the mission camp in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula. The Serbian troops’ superiors and the mission command rated them as highly professional and responsible, which means that they have confirmed the reputation of Serbian soldiers and were excellent representatives of our country and military in a multinational environment.
As part of the second rotation of forces, they were replaced by a new SAF engineer unit that will be performing the same duties as their predecessors over the next six months.
