Meeting between Minister Vučević and representatives of American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met today with representatives of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), who are currently visiting the Republic of Serbia led by the organization’s president, Michael Tuchin.
On that occasion, Minister Vučević pointed out that meetings like this were an opportunity to discuss various matters in an open dialogue, with the aim of finding the best solutions that would be mutually beneficial.Serbia holds the cooperation with the United States of America in high esteem, Minister Vučević said, adding that the effort is ongoing to improve bilateral military cooperation with the USA and that Serbia builds partnerships with all relevant international actors in accordance with its national interests.
Serbia continues to be a responsible and credible partner, Minister Vučević said in today’s meeting, and it will remain a neutral country, in accordance with its political commitment. As Minister Vučević pointed out, Serbia maintains a principled stance on the sovereignty of every state and is committed to respecting the principles of territorial integrity and political independence.
The security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he emphasized, is complex and a multitude of irrational decisions made by the Priština authorities and their continuous application of mechanisms of force exacerbate the security situation. Serbia is committed to finding peaceful solutions to all issues through a dialogue with Priština, as well as to respecting the UN SC Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement, and is determined to protect its sovereignty and ensure citizen security in accordance with the general principles of international law.
Representatives of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee expressed their hope that a higher degree of cooperation with our country would be achieved in all areas of mutual interest.Today’s meeting with the representatives of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) also provided an opportunity to discuss a number of current topics, with particular emphasis on geopolitical and security ones, as well as potential modalities for cooperation in various fields.
