“Freedom has been, remains and it will be a guiding idea and paramount value for which generations of citizens of Serbia fought, are fighting and will fight inspired by the example of heroism of Serbian rebels from 1804 and 1815, and by wisdom of political and diplomatic wisdom of creators of Constitution from 1835.
The state has always been and it will continue to be the guarantor of freedom to the Serbian people and all citizens of Serbia, and the freedom is a chance for growth and progress. Long live Serbia!
Serbia is marking the Statehood day with numerous events today, in memory of Candlemas 1804, when the First Serbian Uprising broke out and in memory of the same date in 1835 when the first modern Constitution of Serbia was passed.
