Chairman of European Union Military Committee visiting Serbia
The Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, is paying a three-day visit to our country at the invitation of the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.
The Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and the Chief of the General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, had separate meetings with General Brieger today.
During his visit to the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Brieger discussed with General Mojsilović the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, in the region and the world, as well as overall relations, with an emphasis on the participation of the Serbian Armed Forces in the EU Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) activities.
During the meeting, the participation of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in EU military operations was highly praised and SAF’s determination to deploy a staff officer to the mission in Mozambique was commended, as well as its participation in the HELBROC Battlegroup and the Single European Sky initiative.
General Mojsilović said that the Serbian Armed Forces were committed to strengthening military cooperation with the European Union through Common Security and Defence Policy, with full respect for the military neutrality of the Republic of Serbia. According to him, this cooperation is mutually beneficial.
Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, which he described as unstable and unpredictable, General Mojsilović pointed out that the Republic of Serbia considered KFOR as the sole legitimate armed formation in our southern province, which was expected to carry out its mandate strictly and impartially, ensuring a safe environment for everyone, and particularly for the citizens of Serbian nationality.
During his visit to the Republic of Serbia, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee will also visit the Defence University, where he will give a lecture to candidates attending advanced career training courses, and he will also visit the Serbian Armed Forces’ Peacekeeping Operations Centre.
