Military schools celebrate Saint Sava Day

Today, students of the Military Grammar School and the Secondary Vocational Military School “1300 Corporals” celebrated the school patron saint – Saint Sava on the Military Grammar School premises.
The ceremony to pay tribute to the first Serbian educator was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, Rector of the Defence University Brigadier General Prof. Boban Đorović, Head of the Public Relations Department Brigadier General Asst. Prof. Mihailo Zogović, Commandant of the Military Academy Colonel Assoc. Prof. Srđan Blagojević and numerous guests.

The rituals of blessing the wheat and cutting the Slava cake, to the accompaniment of members of a cantor club and with the spiritual support of the students, were performed by the military archpriest Major Nemanja Petrović, and priests Captain Slavko Papić and Jovan Babić.
Head of the Military Grammar School Lieutenant Colonel Blagoje Đačić said that the students were devoted to studying and training and that through human and military virtues, they were growing into mature and competent future NCOs and officers of the Serbian Armed Forces.

- Just as Saint Sava worked day and night to educate and teach the Serbian people, building both the Church and the state, preserving the language and the script, so do we, having Saint Sava as a role-model, work diligently day and night to educate and bring up our children, to build and improve military education and to create and ensure the future of the Serbian Armed Forces – said Lieutenant Colonel Đačić.
Following the ritual of cutting the Slava cake, the students of military schools delivered a performance to celebrate Saint Sava Day, and the members of the folk dance club performed Serbian dances.
