Minister Vučević Meets Ambassador of the Russian Federation Botsan-Kharchenko
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Miloš Vučević met Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgrade Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko.
Minister Vučević expressed gratitude for the unfailing support that the Russian Federation has been rendering for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia. He also pointed out that the long-term strategic orientation of the Republic of Serbia is to maintain its status as a military neutral state, without joining any of the existent military political organisations.
The minister of defence informed the ambassador about the current security situation in the southern Serbian Province of Kosovo and Metohija, and unilateral moves made by the Provisional Self-Government Institutions of Priština aimed at provoking conflicts and destabilising the region.
Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko expressed gratitude for the hospitality and the opportunity to have talks on the current security situation in the southern Serbian province and bilateral cooperation of the two countries including the defence cooperation. He emphasised the necessity of the implementation of internationally binding agreements, with the respect for international law regarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.
