State Secretary Starović meets with U.S. Department of State Director for South and Central European Affairs Colleen Hyland
Today, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović met with the U.S. Department of State Director for South and Central European Affairs, Ms Colleen Hyland.
State Secretary Starović conveyed Serbia’s appreciation of the US support for the Belgrade-Pristina negotiations. The Serbian side is willing to continue the dialogue, he said, because we strive to ensure normal life for the Serbian community and all other residents of Kosovo and Metohija by peaceful means. As for the safety of Serbian nationals residing in Kosovo and Metohija, the Republic of Serbia views KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija in accordance with UN Resolution 1244.
It is important for us, State Secretary Starović emhasized, that the USA has recognized the Republic of Serbia as an important partner in ensuring stability and security in the Western Balkans. According to him, the Republic of Serbia is firmly committed to remaining a promoter of dialogue and an important factor for regional stability.
Ms Hyland thanked the Ministry of Defence for the warm welcome, expressing her expectation that the Republic of Serbia and the United States would improve cooperation in all areas of mutual interest in the coming period.
