CIMIC projects in territory of Bujanovac and Ivanjica
Engineer units of the Serbian Armed Forces are currently involved in the implementation of CIMIC projects that aim to improve the living conditions for the citizens of Bujanovac and Ivanjica and to strengthen mutual trust and understanding.
The said activities are being carried out as part of regular training of SAF units in cooperation with local government bodies.
An engineering task force drawn from the 2nd Army Brigade is removing trees and vegetation along the 20km-long transmission line to ensure a reliable electric power transmission in Ivanjica.
This is another in a series of tasks performed by the Serbian Armed Forces in the Ivanjica region which has been experiencing power cuts over the last few years due to damage to the infrastructure caused by falling trees.
Concurrently, in the villages of Levosoje and Oslare, Municipality of Bujanovac, the 4th Army Brigade engineers are removing deposited material from the River Slatina in an effort to increase the river bed capacity.
This will solve a perennial problem of the residents of these villages, which have been flooded on multiple occasions since the river could not take all the water in times of heavy rainfall.
In addition to helping citizens, CIMIC projects like this, which are carried out by the Serbian Armed Forces in other parts of the country as well, improve the ability of engineer units to perform general tasks in support of defence forces on operations.
